Bought the car way back in December 2008 as a completely standard, South African import lol.

Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) DSC_0083

Lasted until the day :dw: opened from christmas holiday to order myslef a set of HSD coilys and also got a dowpipe and decat to go with a cat back system I had already bought

Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) DSC_0094

Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) P080109_1141

and it ended up like this

Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) 200sx1

And two weeks after getting it I was at Santa Pod

Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) DSC_0168

This day of fun killed the turbo and after a succession of bad luck I took the car off the road and got this little monster

Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) DSC00016-1

Oh and I got this too Smile

Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) DSC00116

The plan was to do a simple rebuild to get a fresh reliable engine that would take a bit of abuse from drift days whilst being decent everyday, so i planned to stick some new bearings and rings in and a new HG and that be it.

Unfortunately I stumbled across a set of Woosner pistons while searching for a set of rings so they were bought

Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) DSC00141

Along with a heftier clutch

Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) DSC00159

New gasket set with Metal HG an new water pump and ACL race bearings

Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) DSC00189

The engine was stripped and sent of to be rebored as the pistons were slightly oversized

Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) DSC00103

Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) DSC00179

And I had the crank polished and balanced to the new clutch and flywheel

Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) DSC00180

Old engine was removed and sold straight away so I had no easy option of turning back

Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) DSC00161

Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) DSC00173

And the bay all painted in satin black

Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) DSC00171

Also had to buy these Smile
Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) DSC00187

Head was skimmed and rebuilt with new stem seals and all valves lapped back in (24 takes a while)

R33 GTST subframe fitted with S13 rack and arms all back under the car

Which was a pretty tight fit

But in it went

I then got a bit lazy with taking pictures and the next one I've got is of the swap nearly finished

52mm ali rad fitted with twin 12inch fans

And the car back on the floor with bumpers back on and new wheels fitted

Had to make some cuts to the bracing on the bonnet but closes fine with a couple of washers under the hinges

And as the car was for about 16 months with no reliability issues what so ever Smile

Roll cage test fitted as I'd heard bad things about the fitment of them, wasn't too bad but not perfect
Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) 73404_10150299658155158_774855157_15212386_7444472_n

Seat was also remounted straight to the floor by cutting away the standard mount points

Everything was then removed again including the dash to paint the whole interior in the same satin black i did the engine bay in

Also got a plumbed in fire extinguisher from work

Cut off switch and extinguisher pull cord fitted to dash and the rocker button is for the heaters, they only ever worked on number 4 anyway so thought i'd just replace the control panel with a single switch

Post by Lewis Mon Dec 05, 2011 12:52 pm

Well competed all year with this car as it is here with the RB25 in it.

Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) 298818_10150774064115158_774855157_20614510_2729228_n

The engine was perfect all season apart from struggling with keeping the engine cool. I did plan to re work the front end of the car with a different rad set up and lots of ducting as well as rewiring the engine.

However, I went for one more practice day at Norfolk Arena (2nd home) and unfortunately the engine gave up on me. TBH this couldn't have happened at a better time, it lasted all season and has given me enough time to get the car up and running again for BDC 2012.

Due to the cooling issues that I've always struggled with I have decided to go for a different route with the engine for 2012. I've already removed and stripped the RB

Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) 373989_10150942735680158_774855157_21838566_987290054_n

This was the damage
Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) 382842_10150950296770158_774855157_21865115_1739163708_n

So my new plan consisted of more cylinders and NO turbo, I've opted for a BMW M62, a 4.4 V8. The plan is already under way and yesterday I went and bought a donor car, I feel a bit guilty about braking it tbh because it's an awesome road car, but in a shell a fraction of the weight i think it's going to be a good engine Smile

Here's the car
Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) 388634_10151009730975158_774855157_22081595_1751680759_n

And the important bit :nod:

Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) 379394_10151010235825158_774855157_22083844_1104938220_n

Can't wait to start taking it out and introduce it to it's new Japanese home, stay tuned for progress Smile

I deleted my old build up ages ago coz it got spammed full of poo, so copied this one off DW.

The engine's 297 bhp standard. Should be easily over 300 with exhaust and intake plus an ECU Smile Going to do a lightweight flywheel too

A bit of progress on this,

The engine ready to come out of the BMW
Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) 395952_10151108791130158_774855157_22461983_2101673777_n

Removed all the wiring out of the S13 as I'm going to be making my own loom, probably around 30kg here
Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) 379890_10151137299775158_774855157_22603659_1528865003_n

Stripped the insides out of the S13 to allow some space to cut the tunnel away for the wider gearbox
Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) 387852_10151145769970158_774855157_22633943_811508074_n

The first hole cut
Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) 395772_10151145778050158_774855157_22633952_1125418701_n

And the engine goes most of the way in
Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) 377923_10151145986465158_774855157_22634491_1595749707_n

A bit more cutting and it fits in a treat
Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) 377433_10151161425055158_774855157_22684079_42797961_n

It is pretty wide tho Smile
Stock S13 --> RB25 --> BDC --> V8 :) 379560_10151161434115158_774855157_22684099_798111909_n

I'm going to use the BMW clutch master which mounts inside the car and I think if I run a brake master with the outlets on the other side from the engine and not run a servo then it should clear that fine.

yeah, i was actually at Cadwell Park so asked my dad to take it up Norfolk for us. The fire was a bit of a surprise for me, and could have been a lot worse. Thankfully the Norfolk crew reacted very quickly and got it put out, other than that the car ran very well. All pressures and temperatures are where we wanted them so all looking good for round 2 Smile
