My Del Sol - It's time to get serious!

Post by Guest on Sat Dec 13, 2008 6:13 am

Right, I thought it was about time to get serious with my beloved del sol. I've owned her for over a year now (which incidentally I think is the longest I've had a car before writing it off) Over the last year not a lot has changed, mainly down to not having time or money, and having almost no knowledge of car mechanics at all. But all this is going to change! First here's a pic of the car when I first got my hands on it.

Completely standard and in relatively good condition, apart from a small amount of rust on the wheel arches.

The first change I made was fitting some beautiful 15" rota slipstreams as seen here:

I'm not sure why Jack fitted them for me as I am more than capable of swapping some wheels...

After that I put on a de-cat, which was removed so I could pass my MOT and has been sitting in my garage waiting and longing to go back on.

Next Steve was kind enough to give me some 60mm springs for the trip to the Nurburgring which really made a huge difference, best seen in this pic -

The springs are soon to be replaced with some coilies I've ordered on ebay. They should arrive some time this week and will be fitted asap.

The most recent addition was the ftting of some new EBC brake discs and pads, pictures to come when I've charged my camera and the weather is nice Smile

I've also fitted a cold air induction kit, and had a cat 1 alarm and immobiliser installed.

That's pretty much it so far, my list for future mods is thus:

Coilovers to be fitted.
New exhaust system (any suggestions are welcome)
Fix the rust and re spray the entire car.
New seals around the doors, boot and roof which will hopefully stop the leaks.
General engine bay tidyage.

More pics and news to come as and when it happens.

Well I've got her back from Densley, I haven't had time to get any pictures yet, but don't fear! I plan on getting some done on Saturday after I also fit this baby:

Get in!

Once that's done, the car is all ready for Germany, fingers crossed.

Yeah those plates are pretty poo to be honest, they've been on the car for nearly 15 years...

I'll definitely pick some up soon.
